The macadamia nut is a delicious buttery nut grown in subtropical regions all over the world, although macadamias are widely associated with the Hawaiian Islands. This association occurs because Hawaii is not only a major producer and exporter, but the distinctive flavor of the nut is reminiscent of the tropical regions where it is grown.

Macadamias can be purchased in a variety of forms. They can be dry roasted or honey roasted, salted or unsalted, coffee-glazed or chocolate-covered, enjoyed with caramel or enjoyed with a touch of coconut. Macadamia nuts can be used as a garnish, added to breads, and baked into cookies. There are macadamia nut butters, salad dressings, liqueurs, and ice creams. Unlike other nuts, the macadamia nut is versatile; it can be used in the place of just about every other nut. If the desire is to make an otherwise boring dish exciting, just substitute the other nut for a macadamia and enjoy the exotic taste of the tropics.

Macadamia nuts can also have their oils extracted from them and made into cooking oils. Anyone who avoids this diverse nut because they are worried about their waistline would be interested to know that the health benefits of macadamia nut oil can be compared to that of olive oil. The oils of the macadamia nut can and are commonly used in skin products, such as lotion and body oils.

Not all uses for the macadamia nut are contained to conventional products where nuts are commonly found. The shells of the macadamia nut are often used in fertilizer.

There are also some unusual uses for the macadamia. The leaves of the macadamia nut tree can be used to decorate Christmas wreaths. Another interesting fact about our talented friend is that due to the resemblance to crack cocaine, chopped Macadamia nuts have been used by law enforcement in drug stings.

The macadamia nut is a nut with many talents. With its distinctive flavor and healthy benefits, the macadamia nut is a truly versatile and makes a delicious snack.

If you are going to indulge in a piece of chocolate, why not try something truly decadent? Hawaii can boast of producing some of the finest chocolate in the world. Imagine the explosion of flavors that collide when you couple Hawaiian chocolate up with the buttery flavor of macadamia nuts. The result is a dessert that will excite the taste buds and leave you feeling truly pampered; something a chocolate bar from a convenience store could never do.

In a society where people worry constantly about their waistlines, the idea of eating chocolate covered macadamia nuts, even as a treat, can leave one a little leery. Don’t worry. Macadamia nuts are good for you. The oils from macadamia nuts are rich in Omega 3, which can reduce the risk for heart disease. Macadamia nuts contain more monounsaturated fat (that’s the good fat) than most natural foods, which makes this delicious tree nut even better for you than olive oil. Due to the good fats found in macadamia nuts, research has shown that regular consumption of macadamia nuts can lower bad cholesterol. Speaking of cholesterol, when macadamia nuts are left unsalted, they have no cholesterol.

Since macadamia nuts are good for you, turn to chocolate covered macadamia nuts when you are looking for something to quench that sweet tooth. Chocolate covered macadamia nuts come in a variety of forms. There is milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and milk chocolate with coconut. The chocolates can come with the macadamia nuts dry roasted or dipped into Hawaiian honey. Not only are there chocolate covered nuts, but there are chocolate covered clusters as well. There is also toffee and caramel covered macadamia nuts.

The world of macadamia nuts is far from boring; macadamia nuts can be used in practically every recipe imaginable. Even more exciting than that, the different varieties of chocolate covered macadamia nuts can provide a different sensory experience for a long time. In any form, chocolate covered macadamia nuts are a must for anyone looking to pamper themselves or someone they love.
